Finding affordable car hire in Paros starts with the journeys you actually plan to make. Compare the full rental quote with fuel, any agreed extras and transport needed outside the rental period. A low daily rate is only one part of that calculation, and hiring a car is not automatically the cheapest option for every stay.
Start with your journeys, then choose the rental days
Write down your arrival and departure, the location of your accommodation and the places you want to visit. Separate days spent mainly on foot from days when you expect to drive between villages or beaches. This gives you a basis for comparing a rental with the other transport available for those particular journeys.
If you only need a vehicle for part of the stay, request quotes for both the shorter period and the whole trip. Include any transfers needed before or after the rental. Confirm how the collection and return times affect the charge rather than assuming that removing one calendar day produces a fixed saving.
Compare the complete quote on the same basis
Use the same dates, times, locations and vehicle requirements when comparing offers. Ask for the total payable amount and a clear explanation of what it includes. Check:
- The agreed rental period and the vehicle category.
- Included cover, any optional protection and the applicable damage excess or other responsibility.
- Fuel and mileage terms.
- Any additional driver, child seat or requested equipment.
- Collection and return arrangements, including any charge linked to the location or time.
- Payment timing, booking changes and cancellation conditions.
A useful comparison shows which items are already included, so that you do not count the same cost twice. Keep the written quote and ask about anything that appears only at the final booking step.
AMR’s published terms (in Greek) currently list an additional driver at €3 per day and a child seat at €4 per day. Request any needed extras in your quote and confirm their availability. The same terms state that collection or return outside office hours carries an additional charge, so an early appointment can affect the budget.
Distinguish the rental charge from payment arrangements
When comparing providers, separate the rental price, any advance payment, a security deposit and any amount you may be responsible for following damage. They answer different questions: what the trip costs, when you pay and what liability remains under the agreement.
AMR’s current FAQ answer (in Greek) states that the company does not take a security deposit. Ask how advance payment, the balance and the selected cover apply to your booking. A no-deposit policy should not be read as a promise of no damage liability or as a description of every payment condition.
The English frequently asked questions are another place to start; confirm any booking-specific point with the company before paying.
Choose a vehicle for the real group and luggage
Compare the available options on the AMR Paros Rental Car Our Cars page. Count the passengers, suitcases, any pram and other equipment. Ask about the actual vehicle’s space and the features you need rather than choosing by appearance or a category name alone.
A compact model may suit a couple with light luggage, while another group may need more room. Fuel use also depends on the particular model and how it is driven; size alone does not establish which available car will cost least overall.
Booking ahead gives you time to compare the available quotes and ask questions. It does not guarantee a discount, a specific model or a cheaper final price.

Plan driving days without unnecessary backtracking
Group the places you want to visit by area, taking your accommodation as the starting point. For example, a day around Lefkes, Prodromos and Marpissa has a different focus from a day around Naoussa and northern Paros, or one around Aliki in the south. Choose the stops that interest you instead of trying to cover every area each day.
Compare routes before setting off, allow time to park and follow local signs and access restrictions. A mapped shortcut does not establish that a road is suitable or permitted for the rental vehicle. Ask the company about any route whose access is unclear.
For fuel planning, check the vehicle’s required fuel and the agreed return policy. AMR’s published terms require return at the same fuel level. Plan a suitable refuelling stop before the return appointment and keep the receipt; do not base your budget on an assumed amount of fuel or a universal refuelling charge.
Include the first and last journeys in the comparison
A port or airport collection may remove the need for a separate transfer, but compare the actual arrangements and any collection charge. For the detailed handover process, use the port and airport pickup planning guide.
Use the AMR Contact Us page to confirm the appointment and request clarification of the quote. For a company overview, there is also the AMR Paros Rental Car presentation on Magic Lamp.
Keep a simple transport budget
Record the confirmed rental charge, agreed extras not already included, an allowance for fuel and any other journeys outside the rental period. Compare that total with the alternatives for your own itinerary. The useful result is a transport plan you can afford and understand, rather than a promise that one vehicle or booking date always saves money.
